Back for another year, the Xterra festival is New Zealands premier off road participation event.
The XTERRA New Zealand Championships are the climax of the XTERRA Rotorua Festival. The event is for multisport, triathlon, mountain biking and general fitness athletes of all abilities and is open to both individuals and teams. It doesn’t matter whether you are chasing qualifying spots for the XTERRA Maui World Championships or simply entering your first triathlon.
The Rotorua course has been heralded as the best course in the world, so there has never been a better opportunity to have a go at the fastest growing multisport format in the world. Options include an 11km and 21km trail walk and 11km and 21km trail run. If completing the tri is more your style, you‚re up for a 1km swim, a 30km MTB ride, topped off with an 11km trail run.
The course at the pristine Blue Lake is world class and is ideally situated adjacent to Whakarewarewa Forest, home of the renowned mountain bike trails. “Honestly, it just doesn‚t get any better than this”, says Gary Mandy, an international Xterra athlete from South Africa, “It‚s the best Xterra race in the world”.
