Share in the Powhiri – our traditional ceremony of welcome before you are invited into the Pre-European village nestled within the ancient Tawa forest. With bonfires blazing, here you will witness time honoured crafts and past-times of the Ngati Tama people. At the heart of the Village, enter our Meeting House for a powerful and entertaining Cultural performance. Witness the lifting of the ‘Hangi’ then celebrate with our people, as you dine on a mouth watering feast, cooked beneath the ground on hot rocks.
An amazing 3.5 hour evening re-enactment, based on historical events, with real characters, authentic arts, crafts and powerful song & dance.

The Details
Getting there: Tamaki is an evening experience with a bus picking you up from Heywoods Motel at 4.30pm – 6.00pm (depending on show) and returning at approximately 9.30pm.
What to bring: Bring your lauging gear as well as a coat to ward of the chill of the evening air.
Meals: Enjoy succulent New Zealand meats with a lovely, slightly-smoked flavour and fresh vegetables. As well as hangi, you will enjoy Maori bread, fresh salads and seafood, mouth-watering desserts and more. Vegetarians are happily catered for upon request – just let us know when you book.
Cost: Adults = NZ$105.00; Children (5-15 years) = NZ$60.00; Students (ID required on arrival please) = $82.00; Seniors (65 years & over) = NZ$88.00; Family Group (2 Adults & up to 4 Children) = $305.00; Infants (4 years & under) = Free.
Payment: is made upon arriving at the Tamaki Maori Village. Credit cards, eftpos and cash.
